Walkthrough by Super Thunder and Icy Comet
Go to Red Dragon Island if you aren’t already there. Go right, a bit, and there will be a tire swing in the background. Enter that yard. Jack and Annie will run to their tree house, and you’re free to do whatever you want. Go to the swing and cut the rope with a click of your mouse. Now, roll the tire all the way to the left side of the island until you get to the magic tree house.
Pick up Jack’s Glasses on the ground. Then, leave the tire directly under the tree, and jump. Go inside the tree house. Jack and Annie will be there. Give Jack his glasses. Walk to the left side of the tree house, and pick up the book titled Frog Creek Pennsylvania: Home Town USA.
Now, go ask Annie how the tree house works. She’ll tell you to pick up a book, and get the book to her right, titled A Journey to Old Japan. Use it, and you’re off to Old Japan! You’ll arrive in Old Japan. Jack and Annie will go explore, and tell you that you need a kimono. Jack will give you a Magic Amulet to return to the tree house whenever you want.
Go left, and two guards will arrest you and send you to jail for not having a passport. Use the Magic Amulet. Go left again, but go into the Bonsai Shop. Talk to the lady, and she’ll give you Kimonos to choose from. You’ll also get a Passport. Exit, and go left past the guards. Annie and Jack will be caught and sent to prison. Oh no! Go left, past the crumbly village. When you find some stairs leading up, there will be a fish there. Get the Rotten Fish. It should be where this red circle is in the picture:
Continue to go up, and there will be a chained door. Go right, and a Parchment will drop to you. Read the letter written on it.
Go left some more, and you will pass another set of stairs, and three geishas. In a place with a lake, (left of the whole village) there will be a Bag of Mortar. Get it. Go into the little hut made of bamboo, and talk to the old man. He’ll tell you that Basho is buying some eggs. Go right, past the geishas and the first set of stairs.
You should come to two samurai holding up five people. Help the samurai, by lining them up in order. For this next part, the people are 1,2,3,4, and 5. I will tell you who takes what place. Trade 5 and 4. Trade 4 and 1. Trade 3 and 4. The samurai will catch the guilty one, and send him away. And, in return, the samurai will give you a Betting Slip for the sumo wrestling match, and he says he’ll split his winnings with you. Yay!
Now go back to the crumbly bridge, and use your Mortar. Fixing the bridge is like a puzzle. Just put the bricks where they look like they belong. Once the little bridge is fixed, a really fat muscled guy will run through. Go right, and pick up the Bonsai Scissors. Now go down, just below the bridge, to the guy fishing.
Use the rotten fish to try to catch the kappa. Light the wood in the bottom right, and click on the boulder to the left of the hole on the ground at the right. Shoot the beehive at the whole in the tree. Turn off the fire by clicking the wood again, light the lamp, and click on the rotten fish. Yay! You’ve caught the kappa! Get up and go right, back to the Bonsai Shop. Go inside, and talk to the lady that gave you the kimono.
Help her by cutting the bonsai, which you must cut perfectly. Every single leaf. Once you’ve accomplished that, a guy will walk in. He wants to buy a bonsai, but they are overpriced. Get out of the shop and go the Sumo match which is located at the second stairs. Go inside. Once inside, talk to the wrestler’s manager. He’ll ask you to help him with signing autographs. All you have to do is copy down the pattern, step by step. Once you’re done with that, go talk to the other fighter, the one that looks scared.
He’ll ask you to take his place. What can you do? Take his place! Go fight. The way I did it was similar to Speeding Spike of Super Power Island. I just let him run after me, and soon, he got mad and slipped off the stage. Three mad samurai will come and tell you that they’re going to take you. Just then though, the old man from the hut will come. He is Basho! He says to meet him at his home.
Go to the hut, and he’ll tell you that he wants you to be his new student ninja. You’ll be starting training. Basho will give you some tools and Ninja Outfits (you can wear either black or white). Put on the ninja outfit, and Basho will teach you how to use your tools.
You’ll learn how to use Shuko claws to scale walls and trees, a Bo Staff which can spin or vault you, Smoke Bombs to temporarily blind an enemy, Throwing Stars for stealth (not combat!), and a Grappling Hook to swing around.
Once you’re done with training, go to the wall next to his house. You’ll have to fix it, very much like the bridge. Then he’ll tell you he just needed it fixed. He’ll send you to save Jack and Annie, and to find the Shogun. Go right, past the geishas to the stairs. Go inside, and climb the wall. Go right. Keep on climbing, and ignore all obstacles.
At the top, go left. Use your Ninja Vision to see where the guards are. Drop a bomb to blind them all. Go through the window, above the guard. You will have a few more rooms like this, and they all have the same goal: get the haiku piece, and the key. Keep on going through the doors, and when you get to the final one, you will read the Haiku.
”Enter.” You will enter, and a ninja will tell you not to hurt him, or Jack and Annie, who are locked up hanging from the ceiling, will never get out. Using your stars, shoot it at the cage, and it’ll fall, bursting open.
And then… aaagghh!!! It’s raining fire! Wait… no, you’re just under attack. You’ll be transported to the Cloud Dragon. You must climb the mountain, and get on the Cloud Dragon. The fight between the Cloud Dragon and the Red Dragon is simple. Shoot the Red Dragon, stop it from destroying the city, and recharge in the clouds. If you fail it, you can try again, give up, or try again easy. You won’t need to recharge, if you choose this. After this fight, you’ll be with Basho. Basho will explain that the Shogun is his brother.
He’ll apologize, and you can go home now! Use the Amulet to get to the tree house. Then, use the Frog Creek Book, and you’ll arrive. Annie will give you your Island Medallion and you will also receive Poptropica Store credits! Congratulations; mission accomplished!

Hey Hijuyo, When I defeated the red dragon, Shogun apologized and stuff, but when annie and jack said to use the amulet to go back to the treehouse, I moved and jumped away from them by accident. So anyway i used the amulet to go to the treehouse, but they didn’t teleport with me… I went back to go get them again, i talked to them and they said use the amulet blah blah. so i did. it still didn’t work. So i went to frog creek without them, and they weren’t there. went to their backyard, nope. went back to japan, talked to them again used the amulet again, still didn’t work. and i quit the game because i got fed up. So yeah. I hope you respond.
Hijuyo: Unfortunately, it sounds like a glitch. I’m not sure how to fix it; maybe contact Poptropica about the problem? There’s a Contact link on the Poptropica.com front page.

The Exact same thing happened to me. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get the medal…
Now that there’s the restart island feature, if there’s a glitch or something you can’t undo, just go to your map and click to Restart Island. You’ll have to start over with the island (not the whole game), but hopefully this time around you’ll be able to get the medallion without any problems!
Yep! I was thinking of restarting it, but I thought it could still be fixed so I didn’t. But since there’s no other way to fix it, then I guess I will now… Haha!

Hijuyo: In a sense yes, but using walkthroughs isn’t against Poptropica’s rules, and some people may really be stuck and have nowhere else to turn. However, it does feel better if you are able to solve an entire island all by yourself.

also i’m chinese and on the betting slip it says “five hundred” so that means the samurai betted for 500 dollors or pounds of whatever they use in ancient japan just thought you’d be intrested
They used Yen, just like the Japanese of today.
And 500 yen would be like $5 or 50 cents.
The conversion is 1000 or 100 yen for 1 dollar

In ancient times, yen were worth much more than they are today. Keeping that in mind, 500 yen was worth around $500.
500 yen is $5. I live in Japan ’cause my Marine stepdad was stationed here for 3 years. We might extend 2 years.

I have a problem! I’m doing my training and Basho tells me to reach the red ribbon in the far tree using the shuko (the hand claws) but I jump near the tree trunk but nothing happens! I can’t latch on! Is my computer not working or am I doing something wrong? Please help!
Hmm. Are you jumping near the trunk, or on it? You have to jump ON the trunk, and it SHOULD latch on.
I click “use” to use my mortar on the bridge but my avatar says there is no reason to use it there.

just run past the tree with the ribbon and use the tree with the dummy to get up there

There seem to be a glitch where after you equip two ninja equipment you lose your ability to use your shuko. Kinda a burden but nothing serious. Plus I notice the hair get a little grayer when you equip them. Sucks. Either way it was alright.

Hijuyo: Try to get every leaf right – look at a leaf, compare with the picture, and decide if it should stay or go! Don’t forget – the undo button’s there if you need it. Good luck!
It was hard for me too! I have ADHD and I was really impatient with that, but after hitting my bed about thirty times, I calmed down and looked at each section one by one.

When I go to cut the bonsai tree, all the woman says is ” Did you find a kimono?” That’s it! How do I get to the cutting of the bonsai tree? Hijuyo of someone else, help me!
Hijuyo: You need to collect the kimono from the closet on the far right side of the woman’s hut first.
Yeah I did that already.
Hijuyo: Just follow the guide step-by-step. Read through it and do anything you might have missed. Skipping around usually won’t work because there are things you have to do to be able to continue on with other parts of the island quest.
You need to costumize the kimono first.
pull out the bonsai scissors
u need TO FIX THE BRIDGE WITH THE MORTAR SO THAT THE SUMO GUY WILL DROP THE SCISSORS U NEED TO CUT THE TREE

I think this has been the best island for me, since I can read some of the kanji (I’m Chinese), I have just recently read ‘Geisha of Gion: The Memoir of Mineko Iwasaki’, and I am fascinated by Japanese culture! Honestly, I wish they’d do something a bit more geish-related, but I really liked those three geisha, and how their make-up was done.

Hijuyo: Pay attention to every leaf and carefully decide whether one should stay or be trimmed off. Each leaf matters!
Also, i can’t defeat the dragon, even on easy. ):
Hijuyo: It’s challenging, but not impossible. You can do it if you believe you can.
On easy, just hold down the mouse and fly around!!!! you never run out of water! its fun!!!!!

When I go to talk to the Yokozuna’s opponent, he just says that as long as the Yokozuna is still signing autographs he’ll be safe. How do I get him to let me take his place? And how many autographs do I have to do?
You sign 6 or 7 of the autographs, until there are no more.

ok well first you have to stay up somewhere high but where you won’t get caught. second you aim your arrow at where you want to throw then lastly you press space bar to throw. But you have to move quickly because the bombs don’t last long. Good luck!!! Hope i helped!
Where is the grappling hook?
I couldn’t find it either!
The grappling hook is not on the menu. When you see a metal ring, click on it. It will automatically come out.

small tip for sumo fight. theres a rope right by the stage if you jump on that the sumo guy wil chase you get mad and fall off the stage !!!!!!

Once again, they got Japan confused with China. The Kanji are actually Chinese words.
kanji are shared by both the Chinese and Japanese. They are in both languages.
This doesn’t help me at ALL! I need to know how to actually BEAT the red dragon! This guide is lousy.
Hey, If you cannot beat that red dragon with this guide, go off to the video tutorial, and its random. Plus, you cannot survive a game if you can’t do it yourself, you should also do your part! Don’t say anything if its bad. OK?!

If you failed for the first try, you can click try again with the easy mode. After that, follow the red dragon + click the cloud dragon at the same time. If the red dragon cause any trouble, fix that trouble and follow the red dragon + click the cloud dragon at the same time again! Until the red dragon turns ABSOLUTELY red, he still do the normal thing until he gets down, the screen will say you are victorious.. blah.. blah.. and you’re not stuck at that part again!

How do you get rid of the ninja tools after you done with the island?
Hijuyo please help me I’m stuck on the tire part you know when you cross it to the tree house when I cross the place where the ad is it disappears!DX please help me. I beat the rest of the islands but im stuck here! It’s so hard
I’m not Hijuyo,but I think I can help. If the tire disappears try restarting the island(repeat it) The restart button is on your map. Next time be careful with that tire,I know it’s pretty hard to do.
when i was in the part to use the mortar my character said “there’s no reason to use it here. i checked if i missed anything but there’s nothing.i think it’s because it was loading before that part and it took long to respond. i tried reloading but it went back to the poptropica log in. i continued to do stuff from where i stopped but it won’t work for the mortar.. Please help me!
Perhaps you need to ask a person instead of pulling it from your inventory(backpack). You need to ask the second person (old man with the odd hair)

Hey, I figured out something. When you wat to keep your poptropican outfit, and you need the passport from the kimono, you can just pick the kimono and cancel, so you don’t eed to wear the kimono. You also can pick the ninja outfit and cancel so that you won’t need to wear the ninja ‘fit and still start your training!

it doesn’t say where all the pieces of the haiku are and i still don’t know where the last piece of the haiku is and i think you have to refresh the whole game because it has many glitches like the one that happened to me and others that commented on glitches, plus i’m 11 years old and you should really check your work even if you think it’s perfect, you still have to check it.
um. don’t critisize this guide. it’s perfect. the last piece is in the centre of the whole mazey thing. And also, don’t say ur age.

Heya people, My Poptropican is acting very weird Cuz this is what he does I did all the stuff in the guild but when u finished the island and went to any other island it said I already completed those islands soo i went back to red dragon i didnt get a medal for that and jack and annie we’re standing in front of me saying”Thanks for you help” and instead of a medal i get rotten fish and instead of going to there house jack and annie walk into the sumo match. Id that supposed to happen?
